An item in the news this week caught my attention. A man named David Grisham dressed up as the Grinch and held a sign in front of the local elementary school that stated, “Santa is Fake. Jesus is real!” This caused a significant stir. The police were summoned but after much ado did not arrest him. They stated, “He was not breaking any laws.” However, one parent expressed the anger of those gathered by grabbing Grisham’s sign and throwing it to the ground. As Christians we view the coming of Christ as a factual event – and so it is. His coming was miraculously foretold by the inspired Old Testament writers in so many perfect ways that any foolish effort to disparage these facts is a mathematical impossibility. He came in exact fulfillment of all the Old Testament prophecies which number into the hundreds. As Christians we should be very familiar with the reality that the “whole world lies in the power of the evil one” (1 John 5:19).  Paul stated that all of the unsaved live their lives “According to the prince of the power of the air, of the spirit that is now working in the sons of disobedience” Ephesians 2:2. Pastor’s Thoughts – 12/24/2023

At this time of the year we should be especially mindful and reflective of the incarnation. What is the “incarnation?” It is a word that does not appear in Scripture except in two parts that are not together. These words are en and sarx.  Sarx means flesh, or what we might call our bodies as opposed to our soul or spirit.
